Ilang mga Studyante at Alumni ng UP tutol sa pag bigay ng parangal sa mahal na pangulong Duterte, dahil marami na daw ang napapatay na mga pilipino sa ilalim ng kanyang administrasyon.

Tinanggihan naman ni Duterte ang parangal na ito sabi pa niya na "i do not accept awards" kahit noong mayor pa siya hinding hindi raw siya tumatanggap ng parangal.
