A Pasay City councilor harmed in a shooting episode at SM Southmall in Las Piñas City on Saturday night has been articulated dead. Senior Superintendent Marion Balonglong, Las Piñas City police chief,  said Pasay City Councilor Borbie Rivera was declared dead-on-arrival at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City.

 He said Rivera maintained shot injuries in the head and body. The councilor was shot by motor-riding shooters outside Door 4 of SM Southmall at around 8:30 p.m. Balonglong said one of the shooters was seen boarding a dark SUV.

An earlier radio dzBB  report said the councilor's security men could shoot back at the shooters. The councilor had survived a trap in Pasay City last June. The shooting episode caused a confusion inside the shopping center, which was compelled to briefly suspend operations.


At past 9 p.m., the mall’s operations went back to normal after police cleared the area where the shooting incident happened. The mall was packed with people during the shooting incident because of a three-day sale.
